Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and energetic Crisis Hotline Advocates to join our dedicated mental health support team. In this vital role, the Crisis Hotline Advocate responds to incoming calls on the hotline from victims of domestic violence, advocates, service providers and the general public. The Hotline Advocate provides crisis intervention, referrals, information and problem solving, and shelter screenings to all callers.
Duties
- Answers all incoming calls to the hotline and business line.
- Assists all callers in a professional manner with a tone of calmness, sensitivity, empathy, and non-judgment.
- Provides crisis counseling, referrals, and accurate information to callers.
- Collects demographic information on all calls and records caller’s needs and options discussed; documents referrals given to callers.
- Screens callers for shelter eligibility.
- Maintains neatness of hotline office.
- Provides assistance to interns and volunteers who work on the hotline.
- Attend staff meetings and keeps informed about hotline procedures.
- Participates in a minimum of 24 hours of training regarding the provision of direct services to victims of domestic violence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or other related field or equivalent experience in human services preferred.
- Experience in telephone counseling and crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of domestic violence issues.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
