Position Summary
The Before & After School Summer Program Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for school-age children during summer programming hours. This role includes supervising children, planning age-appropriate activities, supporting social-emotional development, and ensuring compliance with all licensing regulations and center policies.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Safety
- Provide active supervision of children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios in accordance with licensing requirements
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures
- Conduct regular headcounts and ensure accountability during transitions and activities
Program Planning & Implementation
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities (indoor/outdoor, group/individual)
- Lead summer-themed activities such as games, arts and crafts, STEM projects, and field trips
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, and positive peer interactions
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of a diverse group of children
Behavior Guidance & Social Development
- Use positive behavior guidance techniques in alignment with center policies
- Support children in developing social skills, conflict resolution, and independence
- Model respectful, patient, and professional behavior at all times
Communication
- Maintain open, professional communication with families during drop-off and pick-up
- Share daily updates, concerns, or highlights with parents and administration
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent care and programming
Environment & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom and activity spaces
- Set up and clean up activities daily
- Ensure materials and supplies are used appropriately and stored properly
Compliance & Professionalism
- Follow all state licensing (WAC) regulations and center policies
- Complete required trainings and certifications (CPR/First Aid, etc.)
- Be willing to obtain a TB test prior to starting your first day of work.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Minimum age: [18 ]
- Experience working with school-age children preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; ECE coursework or related field preferred
- Ability to pass background check per state licensing requirements
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)

Work Schedule
- Seasonal summer hours would consist of a full day position Monday through Friday with before and after school hours available in the Fall when school starts.
Pay: $17.13 - $21.00 per hour
