JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all production machinery and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This role involves maintaining and executing preventive and corrective maintenance concerns, ensuring compliance with safety and production standards, and minimizing equipment downtime. The technician will maintain accurate records, adhere to safety protocols, and perform additional duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Equipment
- Maintain Preventive Maintenance Program:
- Adhere to the preventive maintenance schedule for all production machinery and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Provide detailed records of preventive maintenance activities within the ERP system for reference and audit purposes.
- Maintain Corrective Maintenance Program:
- Diagnosing and addressing equipment malfunctions, ensuring timely repairs to minimize production disruptions.
- Document all corrective maintenance activities, including repairs and parts used, within the ERP system for traceability and analysis.
- Ensure Operational and Safety Compliance:
- Verify that all production machinery operates correctly and complies with mandated safety and production requirements, including OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Respond immediately to any identified safety issues, prioritizing resolutions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Inventory Management for Repairs:
- Maintain a minimal but sufficient stock of repair parts and supplies to prevent extended equipment shutdowns.
- Coordinate with direct manager to order necessary parts and ensure timely availability.
- Machinery Documentation:
- Maintain and organize an up-to-date repository of all machinery manuals, schematics, and technical documentation for reference during maintenance and repairs.
Safety and Compliance
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures:
- Strictly adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols during maintenance and repair activities to ensure employee safety.
- Train and guide staff on LOTO procedures as needed to maintain compliance.
- Safety Inspections:
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facility systems to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Ensure all maintenance activities align with regulatory standards and internal safety policies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in production equipment to restore functionality and reduce downtime.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Perform maintenance on facility systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, to ensure a safe and operational work environment.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with production teams and the Engineering & Operations Manager to prioritize maintenance tasks and support production schedules.
- Provide updates on equipment status, maintenance progress, and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency through maintenance practices or system upgrades.
- Participate in root cause analysis for recurring equipment issues and propose corrective actions.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Engineering Manager to support the operational and strategic goals of the facility.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with PLCs, automation systems, braze oven or robotics is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Experience using computerized maintenance management systems.
- Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and workplace safety standards.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose equipment issues quickly and implement effective solutions under time constraints.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with production teams and report to management.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CMRT, electrical licenses, or HVAC certifications) are preferred but not required.
Work Environment
- The role involves working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous conditions.
- May require working in confined spaces, at heights, or during off-hours for emergency repairs.
- Must be available for on-call duties as needed to support 24/7 production operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, bending, and working with tools.
- Comfortable working with personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
