Summary Description:

The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting primary duties include responsible for all aspects of cost accounting for the North America Business Unit, including maintaining policies and procedures, management and oversight of cost accounting processes, analysis and explanation of variances, assistance with budgets and forecasts, and oversight of data administration.  This position requires

strong accounting and analytic skills. This position works closely with procurement, accounting, operations and FP&A staff to

maintain and enhance the company’s processes to understand and report manufacturing costs. This position reports to the Director of Accounting.

Duties: 

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position:

• Lead the Cost Accounting team on day to day activities and yearly goals
• Enhance processes with automation and PowerBI
• Provide monthly variance analysis and explanations
• Develop material standard costs
• Ensure inventories are accounted and recorded in accordance with IFRS
• Oversee calculations for Lower of Cost or Net Realizable Value reserves, obsolescence reserves and other valuation reserves
• Work cross functionally with other teams on business projects
• Ensure supplier rebate programs are correctly calculated and recorded
• Maintain documentation of departmental processes
• Work with internal and external auditors and respond to their requests for information

• Manage and direct the activities of direct reports and their employees
• Understanding of SAP process and how they impact financial reporting

Skills/Qualifications:

• Excellent accounting and analytical skills
• Proficient in Excel and Word; aptitude with computers and applications
• Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Results oriented with a sense of urgency, able to work under deadline pressures
• Organized and detail oriented
• Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
• Adaptable to change

Education and Experience:

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA and/or CPA preferred
• 5-7 years financial experience required
• Experience working with cost accounting in an SAP environment is preferred
• Public accounting experience is preferred

Working Conditions:

• Physical - Continuously sitting for prolonged periods using a computer, as the job is administrative in nature.
• Visual/Sensory - This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
• Work environment - Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure. Attention must be concentrated in the face of numerous changing stimuli.
• Mental Stress - There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands. Continuous requirement of decisive action.

Travel Requirements:

• Based in Tampa corporate office with minimal travel requirements.
