LOGISTICS LEAD

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to ensure products are distributed locally according to quality, performance, cost, and availability. Practices are aligned to the business objectives with an emphasis on customer service. Responsible for the logistics associated with the distribution of IMDEX products.

PLANNING

  • Work with team to define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Plans work according to time constraints.
  • Where there is an expected hinderance to executing a defined work plan (eg. due to availability of tools, lack of staff resources), develops contingency plan and communicates to team.
  • Compiles and reviews logistics data supplied by team. Sense checks data to ensure it accurately reflects production/operative processes.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to provide information on product availability, suitability and movement as required.
  • Clear work schedules defined and communicated to team.
  • Logistics data is accurate and can be utilised as a source for decision making for future supply chain planning.

INVENTORY & WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

  • Keep work area clean, neat and organised.
  • Support inventory control ensuring all inventory is stored securely and protected from damage.
  • 6S must always be considered in the handling, movement and storage of product and inventory.
  • Best in practice compliant and cost effective national and international logistics.
  • Ensure repaired instruments are delivered on time to performance and quality expectations.
  • Build a strong culture of customer focus through exceptional leadership skills.
  • Support Supply Chain Manager implementing practices to ensure distribution is planned for effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Warehouse sections and spaces are arranged conducive to production activities, number of personnel utilising the space and safety.
  • Inventory Turn Rates (ITR) are achieved according to Forecast and Budget for each FY.
  • Fill Rates are achieved according to KPI’s.
  • Inventory management of slow movers, over stock and obsolete items.
  • Real time reporting by ensuring correct utilisation allocations, asset status and cleaning up of inaccurate data through GDR, PRONTO or other reporting system including non-PRONTO entities.

ASSET MANAGEMENT

  • Evaluation and planning of minimum and maximum fleet margins to ensure effective utilization through current financial year (FY).
  • Optimal utilisation rates to maximize ROC%.
  • Knowledge of current and future rental contracts and demand planning (forecasting) in place to ensure demand is fulfilled
  • Work closely with commercial area with day-to-day support.
  • All processes for tool or asset retirement are implemented and followed.
  • Support finance with inventories.

QUALITY & OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE

  • Implements 6S rules and champions a Lean Improvements culture - zero non-conformance to our Rules and Policy on 6S.
  • Ensures all work completed adheres to ISO9001 standards and per company policies and requirements.
  • Monitor and resolve non-conforming product issues, customer complaints & corrective actions follow-up within specified time frame in collaboration with the QA Department and relevant stakeholders including identifying any systemic issues with various stakeholders to resolution.
  • Coordinates risk management activities conducted within warehouse area, including the identification and implementation of site-specific measures to eliminate or reduce the risk in conjunction with IMDEX site safety representative and stakeholders.
  • Ensures all logistics activities are performed to quality and compliance requirements as per procedures, SWIs and specifications.
  • All inspections and audits are passed.
  • Measures implemented to reduce risk are adopted readily.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Utilising resources to establish, implement, maintain, and improve the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) management system.
  • Ensuring risk management activities are conducted within area of responsibility, including the identification and implementation of any site-specific measures required to eliminate or reduce risk in their area.
  • Completion of hazard and aspect identification and elimination/reduction programmes
  • Effective incident reporting.
  • Regular workplace inspections conducted.
  • Site activities comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental legislation and the IMDEX QHSE management system.
  • QHSE Representatives are consulted with regarding any QHSE issues and performance.
  • Quality alert system is utilised to initiate and respond to QHSE issues.

RISK AND COMPLIANCE

  • Promoting the reporting of potential non-compliance or misconduct through appropriate channels.
  • Leading by example to promote positive risk and compliance behaviours to colleagues.
  • Ensuring the compliance of team members with IMDEX risk and compliance policies, local laws and other relevant standards.
  • Applicable risk management and regulatory compliance processes are implemented
  • Behaviours that do not align with the IMDEX Code of Conduct are challenged.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Demonstrated industry experience (3-5 years) working in a similar or slightly junior role.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing ability that has resulted in maximum beneficial outcome for the business.
  • Fluent in local language and fluent-intermediate level of English.
  • Experience in establishing and managing quality systems such as ISO9001 preferably in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Strong computer literacy to utilise Microsoft Applications and an ERP system.
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics and customs processes and procedures including compliance on a local and international level.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working with dangerous goods and chemical handling.
  • Experience implementing and driving 6S and Lean management practices.

Desirable

  • Holds or is working towards a qualification or industry certification in business, manufacturing, supply chain or equivalent area.
