Position Summary

The Child Care Worker is responsible for providing direct supervision, support, and care to youth residents between the ages of 10 and 21 in a structured residential setting. This role focuses on ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of each youth by fostering a positive, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and care for youth in accordance with agency policies and state regulations.
  • Support residents in developing independent living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, education, employment readiness, and social interaction.
  • Implement individualized service and treatment plans as directed by the clinical or program team.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting healthy relationships, coping skills, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment by enforcing facility rules and ensuring proper supervision at all times.
  • Assist with transportation of youth to school, appointments, and community activities as needed.
  • Complete required documentation, including incident reports, daily logs, and progress notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Administer medication as trained and authorized, following established protocols.
  • Collaborate with staff, supervisors, and outside professionals to support the physical, emotional, and social needs of youth.
  • Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with youth or in a residential/group home setting strongly preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (required for transportation duties).
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and all state-mandated clearances.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 39 per week
