Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and knowledgeable LPN or RN to join our on-call nursing team! As an on-call nurse, you will be responsible for fielding calls from our 5 Wichita home plusses and delivering immediate nursing interventions, assessing resident needs, and coordinating care during after-hours or urgent situations. Your expertise will ensure seamless resident support and safety around the clock, making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. This paid position is ideal for nurses eager to apply their skills flexibly while maintaining a passion for compassionate care. Weekday hours are 5p-7a. Weekend hours are 7a-7a.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to after-hours calls from our staff or regarding our residents.
- Perform comprehensive assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and review of medical histories using ALIS (EHR).
- Administer medications via injections with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure resident safety.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and follow-up care in the event a resident is discharged back to the homes or transferred out of the homes for evaluation.
- Maintain effective communication with home health and/or hospice teams as needed.
- Provide triage services by evaluating symptoms related to infectious disease care, trauma medicine, or behavioral health issues to determine urgency levels.
- Support residents with complex needs including those in with physical disabilities or memory care residents.
Requirements
- Valid RN or LPN license in good standing.
- Proven experience in long-term care environments such as nursing homes, assisted living communities, or home plus settings or in hospital backgrounds providing geriatric care.
- Ability to work independently during on-call shifts while maintaining excellent patient assessment skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage and resident/staff education.
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to access EHR remotely
