Job Description
Title: Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher
Department: Reflection Bay Golf Club Food and Beverage Department
Reports To: Executive Chef
Please note this is a part time seasonal position.
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher will ensure that wares for the front and back of house are clean and sanitized. The work extends beyond cleaning dishes and putting them away and also includes keeping the floor clean with mops and brooms, keeping the food preparation area sanitary, refilling supplies in the kitchen and dining areas, cleaning surface areas and gathering up and taking out the trash. The Kitchen Steward will also clean according to standards the following items and areas: Broilers, deep fryers, grills, ovens, range hoods, ware washing machines, floors, walk in’s, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Washes all wares including pots, plans, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using dishwashers.
- Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas.
- Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils.
- Receive and store supplies or goods in kitchen or storage areas.
- Sort and remove trash and cardboard boxes by placing them in designated pickup areas.
- Cleans trash receptacles with water or steam.
- Moves dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand or using hand trucks.
- Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
- Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.
- Uses all chemicals according to use and knows where SDS sheets are located.
- Report any malfunctions of the dishwashing machine, (including temperatures too low or too high) or any other type of equipment used.
- Sweeping, mopping and/or scrubbing floors.
- Any other duties as prescribed by supervisors in order to maintain kitchen. These may includes but are not limited to the following: cleaning the ice machines, cleaning hand sinks, fill paper towels and soap dispensers, use and clean floor signs, etc.

- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to understand and meet restaurant standards for health, safety, and excellence.
- Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-paced.
- Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
Education and Experience:
- Restaurant experience preferred.
- Must have Food Handler Card.
- Must have driver license and be able operate/drive golf carts and utility carts when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods walking or standing.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 60 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently.
- Must frequently immerse hands in water.
- Must be able to work in a hot and damp environment or other extreme temperatures.
Working Conditions
Job hazards may include slips and falls, cuts, and burns, but injuries are seldom serious.
Employees in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals and cleaning chemicals.
Work hours in restaurants may include early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
