Federal Affairs Lead (US)

Reflection AI
Washington, DC Full Time
POSTED ON 4/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/6/2026
Our Mission

Reflection’s mission is to build open superintelligence and make it accessible to all.

We’re developing open weight models for individuals, agents, enterprises, and even nation states. Our team of AI researchers and company builders come from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, Anthropic and beyond.

AI policy is being written in real time. This is the most consequential technology policy moment in a generation — and Reflection AI is at the center of it.

We're looking for a hands-on federal affairs professional to lead our engagement across Congress and the Executive Branch. This is a direct lobbying role — you'll be on the Hill executing, not just advising from the sidelines. You'll own Reflection AI's federal legislative agenda, drive strategy and execution, and build the relationships that turn policy goals into wins.

What You'll Do

  • Engage with policymakers across Congress and the Executive Branch on Reflection AI's priority issues, including national security, procurement, energy, infrastructure, and AI governance
  • Own the full lobbying cycle: identify targets, develop the ask, schedule and execute meetings, track commitments, and follow through to outcomes
  • Monitor and engage on relevant legislation, markups, and regulatory activity — providing real-time intelligence to leadership and flagging inflection points that require action
  • Develop and execute advocacy campaigns in coordination with cross functional partners
  • Draft and deliver leave-behinds, one-pagers, testimony support, and other materials that make our policy positions land on the Hill
  • Advise leadership on political feasibility, legislative timing, and stakeholder dynamics — translating what's happening into clear strategic guidance
  • Represent Reflection AI at political and policy events
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and lobbying firms

What We're Looking For

  • 7 years of experience in-house, at a firm, or in government with a clear record of influencing legislative outcomes
  • Active, trusted relationships with policymakers
  • Experience in technology policy strongly preferred
  • Comfortable getting up to speed quickly on complex technical subject matter
  • Sharp written and verbal communicator — you can distill a complex AI policy issue into a two-minute pitch or a crisp one-pager
  • Exceptional judgement
  • Energized by a fast-moving startup environment where you're building the playbook, not inheriting one

What We Offer

We believe that to build superintelligence that is truly open, you need to start at the foundation. Joining Reflection means building from the ground up as part of a small talent-dense team. You will help define our future as a company, and help define the frontier of open foundational models.

We want you to do the most impactful work of your career with the confidence that you and the people you care about most are supported.

  • Top-tier compensation: Salary and equity structured to recognize and retain the best talent globally.
  • Health & wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • Life & family: Fully paid parental leave for all new parents, including adoptive and surrogate journeys. Financial support for family planning.
  • Benefits & balance: paid time off when you need it, relocation support, and more perks that optimize your time.
  • Opportunities to connect with teammates: lunch and dinner are provided daily. We have regular off-sites and team celebrations.
