We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team, supporting our downstream business with a focus on utilizing chemistry to prevent and mitigate challenges associated with the boilers, cooling systems, and wastewater treatment. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge and expertise in water treatment science and engineering and will be responsible for providing specialized support and guidance on water treatment-related issues across our customers’ operations. This role involves developing and implementing water treatment strategies, solving complex water treatment challenges, troubleshooting upsets and collaborating with various departments to ensure the integrity and optimization of our customers’ assets and their performance.

Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise and Support

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all water treatment-related inquiries and issues.
• Provide technical guidance and support to customer, sales, and operations teams
• Develop and optimize water treatment strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  
  

Project Management

• Lead and manage water treatment-related projects, from concept through implementation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  
  

Standards and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to water treatment.
• Develop and update internal water treatment management standards and procedures.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify compliance with water treatment control programs.
  
  

Training and Development

• Provide training and support to refinery staff on water treatment operations and best practices.
• Develop and deliver training materials and programs for continuous improvement
  
  

Research and Development

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in water treatment science and technology.
• Collaborate with external research organizations and participate in industry forums.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methods to improve water treatment methods.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in water treatment within a refinery or industrial setting.
• Proven track record of successfully managing Water Treatment control programs and projects.
  
  

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of water treatment technologies, processes, and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in water quality monitoring and data analysis tools.
  
  

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Work will typically be performed in an office environment using routine office equipment.

Travel Requirements

Less than 20% - only as needed for training, off-site meetings, etc.
