Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) to join our practice as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate has strong skills in deep tissue, therapeutic and/or sports massage, excellent client care, and is excited to contribute to a growing practice. This is a great opportunity for a therapist who wants the benefits of an established brand, marketing, and clientele—without the burden of running their own business.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional massage therapy sessions (30, 60 and 90 minutes) tailored to client needs. All sessions are scheduled with a 15min window between ending and starting a session to accomadate scheduling, collecting payment and changing room over.
- Maintain proper client records and SOAP notes
- Educate clients on aftercare, injury prevention, and recovery strategies.
- Represent Refined Massage professionally at occasional community events and sports massage pop-ups.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming treatment environment.
- Take measures to ensure proper ergonomics and personal alignment/safety within the massage room.
- Develop and engage in a self-care routine to maintain health and wellness.
- Possess a high degree of empathy and passion to help people along their wellness and fitness journey.
- Be able to assess a clients' desire to engage in conversation vs their need to relax and be able to effectively switch between both.
- Sanitize equipment and surfaces touched between each massage.
- Change linens between each appointment.
- Help clients schedule their next appointment.
- Take payment for services rendered.
- Wash and fold linens (off-site).
- Open and close the facility, as needed, depending on your shift.
- Be self-motivated and able to collaborate in a group or work independently.
Qualifications
- Current Michigan Massage Therapy License (required).
- Current liability insurance (required).
- Strong foundation in anatomy, kinesiology, and massage techniques.
- Interest or experience in sports massage, deep tissue, or therapeutic bodywork preferred.
- Professionalism, reliability, and excellent communication skills.
- Must be comfortable working as an independent contractor.
- Must be comfortable working on-site independently for returning clients. Meaning: All new clients appointments will have another therapist or staff member on-stie but for returning clients, the therapist may be on-site alone depending on facility operations. (We are located inside of a fitness facility)
Compensation & Benefits
- Flat rate per massage: 30, 60, and 90 minutes (details discussed at interview) tips.
- The contractor keeps full control over taxes and insurance.
- Flexible scheduling options. Contractor maintains full control of their work hours based on when the room is available. (Not being used by another therapist)

Monday- any
Wednesday- 7am-1pm
Thursday, Friday-1pm -7pm (welcome to work later if desired)
Weekends- any
