What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Specialist position at ReelPower Industrial?
POSITION PURPOSE:
- Build skids, crates, prepare item(s) for shipment and load product with approved freight carriers. Package, prepare and make transactions for LTL shipments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ability to operate in a safe and effective manner: nail guns, saws, drills, overhead crane(s) and forklifts
- Designs and builds wooden framed crate to protect the product while in shipment
- Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability,
- Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping,
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Other work as assigned
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Read and effectively use a tape measure
- Certified to operate a forklift.
- Certified to operate an overhead crane.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of previous shipping experience
- Forklift and overhead crane experience
- Carpentry experience a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
- Must be able to lift 25 - 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, talk, sit, stand, and communicate verbally continuously throughout the scheduled shift.
- Ability to work overtime when necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
