Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Capital Procurement Specialist to lead procurement efforts for a growing organization with an existing pilot and R&D facility undergoing expansion, alongside a significant brownfield redevelopment project. This hands-on role focuses on capital equipment, engineering services, construction, and related sourcing to support rapid project execution and facility growth. Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end capital procurement for pilot/R&D operations and major brownfield redevelopment initiatives, including sourcing of equipment, materials, engineering/design services, construction contractors, and installation support.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies, RFPs/RFQs, bid evaluations, and supplier selection processes to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality outcomes aligned with project timelines and budgets.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and contractors, focusing on risk mitigation, performance guarantees, warranties, and value engineering opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including strategic partnerships with key vendors in manufacturing, process equipment, and construction sectors.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, R&D, finance, and operations teams to define requirements, manage change orders, and integrate procurement into project planning and execution.
- Drive cost savings, risk reduction, and efficiency improvements through supplier consolidation, competitive bidding, alternative sourcing, and innovative procurement approaches.
- Manage procurement documentation, compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., safety, environmental standards for brownfield sites), and accurate tracking of spend, commitments, and savings.
- Support rapid decision-making and project acceleration in a dynamic environment, proactively identifying opportunities and solving challenges with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented approach.
- Contribute to building procurement capabilities as the organization grows, including mentoring future team members, establishing best practices, and scaling processes for additional projects and facilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree or certifications such as CPSM, PMP, or CSCP preferred).
- 8–10 years of progressive procurement experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with significant focus on capital projects, equipment sourcing, construction, or engineering services procurement.
- Proven track record in capital-intensive environments (e.g., chemical, pharma, advanced manufacturing, or R&D facilities), including brownfield redevelopment or expansion projects.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset: self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving situations with the ability to innovate, take ownership, and deliver results rapidly.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and the ability to suggest additional relevant software packages to support rapid execution.
- Willingness and ability to be based in or commute to the Noblesville/Indianapolis area with trips to the Marion, IN facility as needed or required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pilot/R&D or scaling facilities, where procurement supports both operational and developmental needs.
- Familiarity with Indiana-specific regulations, construction contracting, or brownfield/environmental remediation procurement.
- Demonstrated success in building or leading small procurement teams in growth- stage companies.
