The Dispensary Manager at Reef Wellness in Woonsocket, RI is responsible for leading all day-to-day retail operations, ensuring a compliant, efficient, and customer-focused dispensary environment. This position oversees the floor, back-of-house, and reception areas to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for medical patients and adult-use customers while maintaining strict adherence to Rhode Island cannabis laws and internal policies.
The ideal candidate has proven cannabis retail leadership experience, strong people-management skills, and hands-on expertise with METRC and Dutchie. They will manage staff performance, provide ongoing coaching and training, and foster a professional, supportive, and accountable team culture. This role is highly hands-on and requires excellent judgment, reliability, and the ability to stay calm, organized, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily dispensary operations, including opening and closing procedures, staffing, compliance, and customer service.
- Serve as the in-house point person for METRC and Dutchie, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, menu management, and compliant transaction processing.
- Manage cash handling processes, including tills, drops, safe counts, end-of-day reconciliation, and variance investigation, following strict cash-control procedures.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff; conduct regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Ensure staff are trained on and consistently follow Rhode Island medical and adult-use cannabis regulations, company SOPs, and security protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels, coordinate with purchasing/leadership on ordering, and help prevent stockouts, overages, and product discrepancies.
- Handle escalated customer concerns professionally, support a welcoming environment, and uphold Reef Wellness’ standards for service and professionalism.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure facility, including sales floor, storage, and restricted areas.
- Track and report on key performance metrics (sales, average ticket, labor, discounts, etc.) and work with ownership to meet or exceed targets.
- Partner with leadership on promotions, merchandising, and community presence while ensuring all marketing and signage are compliant.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of dispensary management or assistant management experience in cannabis retail (required).
- Direct, hands-on experience with METRC (seed-to-sale tracking) and Dutchie (POS/e‑commerce) in a live dispensary environment (required).
- In-depth understanding of Rhode Island medical and adult-use cannabis regulations and willingness to stay current as rules evolve.
- Demonstrated people-management skills: hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Proven experience with cash handling, reconciliation, and maintaining tight controls.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks (e.g., lifting up to 25–30 lbs).
- Must be 21 and able to pass all required background checks and licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience opening or scaling a dispensary location.
- Experience creating or improving SOPs and training materials.
- Familiarity with retail KPIs and basic reporting (Excel/Sheets, POS reports, etc.).
Schedule and Compensation
- Full-time, on-site role in Woonsocket, RI.
- Must be available for a mix of weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
- Compensation: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
