Job Title: Physical Education Teacher Job Type: Full-Time Annual Contract Reports To: Superintendent-Principal Salary: Placement on Teacher Salary Schedule dependent upon training and experience Description Provide a physical educational program for elementary and middle school students. Perform other school and job related duties. Qualifications Credential: Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with Supplemental PE Authorization OR valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential: Physical Education Duties & Responsibilities Although the job tasks may vary due to specific requirements from one program to another, duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be all inclusive, but descriptive of the typical tasks performed. Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Provide learning experiences in physical education utilizing course of study in accordance with California Teaching Standards. • Analyze, demonstrate and explain basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms and fundamentals of body movement; provide time for drills of the basic skills. • Establish and maintain student behavior standards to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. • Model a pleasant and positive attitude to foster student learning and teamwork • Maintain effective physical environment for student learning. • Develop lesson plans and provide individualized/group instruction to meet student needs. • Administer first aid and takes appropriate measures when the accident/illness is more serious. • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. • Maintain professional competence through relevant professional development. • Establish and maintain good professional relationships with parents, community and staff. • Perform other duties relevant to a teaching position.
