About the Role
Reeder General Contractors is seeking entry-level or intern-level Site Safety Coordinators to support high-paced summer construction projects across multiple school campuses.
This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in construction safety, operations, or project management who want real field experience on complex, active jobsites.
You will work alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, and our Safety Team to help maintain and enforce Reeder’s Safety Program while ensuring a safe environment for workers, staff, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Support
- Assist in maintaining and enforcing Reeder’s Site-Specific Safety Program
- Support compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and company policies
- Promote a “Safety First” culture across all trades
Field Operations & Oversight
- Conduct daily jobsite walks and safety inspections
- Monitor trade partner performance, especially during critical scopes:
- Fall protection / elevated work
- Excavation & trenching
- Demo activities
- Steel erection & crane operations
- Electrical / utility shutdowns
- Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions with field leadership
Pre-Task Planning & Documentation
- Assist with JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) review and support
- Support development and implementation of Pre-Task Safety Plans (PTSPs)
- Ensure crews understand scope risks before starting work
Trade Partner Coordination
- Conduct site safety orientations for all new workers and visitors
- Reinforce expectations for:
- PPE compliance
- Access control & badging
- Jobsite behavior standards
- Help maintain accountability across all subcontractors
Incident Response & Reporting
- Assist with incident investigations and documentation
- Gather photos, statements, and field data
- Support timely reporting and follow-up actions
Security & Campus Safety
- Support strict K-12 security protocols, including:
- Controlled access points
- Monitoring of doors and entry/exit points
- Ensuring separation between construction and occupied areas
- Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to unauthorized access
Project Support & Daily Operations
- Capture daily jobsite photos (progress & safety documentation)
- Maintain daily logs and field reports
- Support Superintendents and Safety Team with field coordination tasks
- Assist with organization of safety boards, signage, and documentation
Basic Qualifications
- Interest in construction safety or field operations
- Strong communication and willingness to engage with crews
- Ability to walk jobsites for extended periods in outdoor conditions
- Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) OSHA construction standards
- Reliable transportation to project sites
