Overview
Reed-Custer Early Learning Center, located within Reed-Custer School District in Braidwood, is seeking a passionate and dedicated DCFS Qualified Teacher to join our growing team as we expand for the 2026–2027 school year, beginning August 7.
This position offers a consistent schedule of 7:30 AM–4:00 PM and follows the school-year calendar, with 179 workdays annually. Employees enjoy holidays off, along with winter, spring, and summer breaks to rest, recharge, and enjoy time outside of work.
Compensation is based on 179 workdays per school year; however, salary is distributed evenly across 26 pay periods throughout the year, providing consistent paychecks even during scheduled school breaks.
We believe childhood should be full of curiosity, creativity, and fun! Every day, we help children learn and grow through hands-on activities, play, and meaningful experiences that support their social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development.
We provide care and education for infants through pre-kindergarten-aged children.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 semester hours of college coursework, including at least six semester hours in child development or early childhood education (or related coursework) with a focus on children from birth through age 6.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children (6 weeks through age 5) in a licensed child care center is preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan age-appropriate, engaging activities that support each child’s growth and development.
- Create a warm, safe, and welcoming classroom where children can explore, play, and learn at their own pace.
- Observe and document children’s progress, using that information to guide instruction and share updates with families.
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Encourage creativity and curiosity through art, music, storytelling, movement, and sensory play.
- Support social-emotional learning by helping children develop confidence, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate with other teachers to create a team-oriented, supportive environment.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and institute days.
- Follow all DCFS licensing, safety, and school district policies.
- Communicate regularly with families to celebrate milestones and strengthen the home-school connection.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
