Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with students to address emotional, social, and behavioral issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to identify students in need of support and develop intervention strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families in times of need.
- Facilitate communication between the school and families to promote student engagement and academic success.
- Connect families with community resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, and financial support.
- Develop and implement programs and workshops aimed at enhancing student and family well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and services provided.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and coordinate services.
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school system and the community.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in social work and family services.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure as a social worker (LMSW or LCSW preferred).
- Experience working with adolescents and families, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals, including students, parents, and school staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of community resources and services available to families.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, as needed for family engagement activities.
