What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician — Luxury Apartment Community position at Redwood WI?
Maintenance Technician: Luxury Apartment Community
River Place Lofts | Milwaukee, WI
Pay: $25.00–$30.00 / hour, based on experience, and it grows as your skills grow.
About the role
River Place Lofts is a 198-unit luxury apartment community located on the Menomonee River. We're looking for a hands-on, dependable person who's good with tools, takes pride in doing a job right, and wants to grow.
If you're handy, you learn fast, and you care about your work, we want to hear from you, even if you don't check every box below. The right attitude and a solid mechanical foundation matter more to us than a perfect résumé. We'll invest in the rest.
What you'll do
- Turn apartments (make-readies): patch and repair drywall, paint, and get vacant units looking sharp and move-in ready. This is a big part of the job.
- General repairs: handle the everyday fixes that keep a community running, doors, hardware, fixtures, appliances, and the small stuff residents notice.
- Respond to service requests: knock out resident work orders promptly and do them right the first time.
- Inspections & upkeep: walk units, common areas, and grounds to catch problems early and keep the property looking its best.
- Basic mechanical, plumbing, and electrical: tackle the straightforward stuff, and we'll train you up on the more technical work over time.
- Pitch in as a team: work alongside the property manager and on-site crew, and coordinate with outside vendors when needed.
- Keep it safe and organized: follow safety practices and keep clean records of your work.
What we're looking for
- Handy and mechanically inclined, good with tools and comfortable figuring things out.
- Takes pride in the work, shows up, and can be counted on.
- Hungry to learn. We'd rather have a sharp, motivated person who wants to grow than someone who's just clocking in.
- Some hands-on experience, maintenance, a trade, construction, handyman work, or a strong DIY/mechanical background.
- Solid with minor drywall patching and painting, or able to pick it up quickly.
- Clear communication in English and a valid driver's license.
Nice to have (not required — we'll teach you)
- HVAC experience, or an EPA 608 certification, and if you don't have it, we'll consider helping get you certified.
- Plumbing or electrical experience.
- Appliance repair.
- Prior apartment or multifamily experience.
- Leadership potential
Why you'll want this job
- We invest in you. Come in with a strong foundation and the drive to learn, and we'll cross-train you.
- Your pay grows with your skills. Start where your experience is; as you take on more and level up, your pay moves with you.
- Room to grow.
- A well-run, high-end property and a team that takes the work seriously.
The basics
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, with some scheduling flexibility.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
- Work location: in person.
