Company Description Redwood Literacy provides comprehensive assessments and individualized tutoring for students experiencing dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and related challenges in reading, writing, and math. Instruction is offered in person in Chicago, with virtual options available for families outside the area, and includes one-on-one and small-group formats with flexible scheduling and financial arrangements. The organization offers year-round tutoring, targeted math support, and structured seasonal programs such as Summer Morning Intensive, August Boost, and Flex 1-1s, giving families multiple pathways to support learning. Redwood Literacy also develops educational products, including Six Success Tricks for families, and Writing Our World™, a writing program designed for educators. Across all services, the team emphasizes thoughtful instruction, strong relationships, and close collaboration with families to promote meaningful, lasting learning.

Role Description The Intervention Specialist is a contract role based on-site in Evanston, IL, supporting children with developmental, behavioral, and learning needs. In this role, the specialist provides direct intervention services, implements individualized plans, and collects data on progress to inform instructional decisions. Daily responsibilities include engaging children in structured literacy intervention. The specialist will apply evidence-based practices, monitor behavior and learning, and adjust strategies to meet each child’s unique needs. The position requires consistent documentation, minimal communication with caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Certifications in Wilson Reading System, Orton Gillingham, EBLI, Spell-links, UFLI (preferred).
  • Candidates should possess skills in Early Intervention to design and implement effective, developmentally appropriate support plans.
  • Candidates should possess experience Working With Children in educational, clinical, or community settings, with an emphasis on building safe, supportive relationships.
  • Relevant skills such as strong observational and documentation abilities, clear written and verbal communication, and collaborative teamwork are beneficial.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, education, social work, speech-language pathology, or a related field is preferred, along with any applicable state certifications.
