Duties/Responsibilities

• Evaluate electrical suppliers by considering price, quantity, availability, and quality of service.
• Meeting with vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing.
• Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of Redwood Electric Group.
• Verifying purchases by comparing estimates from project plans and specifications.
• Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
• Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories.
• Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet suppliers.
• Researching and comparing manufacturers, goods, and services.
• Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
• Monitoring project lead times and determining purchasing needs.
• Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices.
• Preparing and processing project purchase orders.
• Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, and/or receipts.
• Scheduling and verifying purchase order deliveries.
• Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
• Recommending parts/products from field work order forms.
• Taking phone calls from field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, project management team.

Required Skills/Abilities

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Degree in business administration, management, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position.
• Previous experience as a project engineer or in a similar position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and/or project management software programs.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong organization and documentation skills.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
