Job Description: Classroom Assistant
Position: Part-time, Instructional Assistant
Location: Redwood Coast Montessori (Public Charter School)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6 hours/day (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Start Date: August 18, 2026
Salary: $17.09-$19.25/hour, depending on experience

Position Summary:
Redwood Coast Montessori is seeking an enthusiastic, positive, reliable, and collaborative classroom assistant to support students and staff in an adolescent project-based learning environment. The ideal candidate is committed to student well-being, team collaboration, and fostering a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing the daily classroom program under teacher direction
- Supervise, maintain safety, and engage with students during class, breaks, and lunch
- Maintain a calm, organized, and student-centered learning environment
- Support students in a respectful, developmentally appropriate manner
- Step in to supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold school policies
- Communicate courteously and respectfully with students, staff, and families
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and reliability
Minimum Qualifications:
- a high school diploma or equivalent.
- completion of 48 college semester units, OR an Associate's degree OR pass the paraprofessional exam
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site
- General knowledge of child development and positive behavior support
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to equity and supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds
Requirements Upon Hire:
- DOJ fingerprint clearance
- Negative TB test
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be completed upon hire)
