Job Summary
The primary role of a Peer Support Specialist/Mentor is to provide support and companionship to a young adult client who currently resides in the Kenmore/Bothell area and experiences ongoing mental health challenges. Seeking someone with a background/interest in mental health (either lived experience or previous work experience), preferably someone who is pursuing a field in Social Work, Counseling, or related fields.
Salary: $30-$40/hr DOE
Work Hours: Variable, 6 hours/week

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ability to engage with young adult
- Provide 1:1 support, in the home/community to:
Improve quality of life
Engage in enrichment
Encourage movement and activity
Facilitate conversation
- Accompany and assist individual with community outings such as: Grocery shopping trips, vehicle support - getting gas and following up with maintenance (as needed), occasional recreational activities, etc.
- Teach/model healthy behaviors and positive communication skills
- Support with: Identifying activities that can be done independently, problem-solving, budgeting, housekeeping tasks
- Accountability and support with caring for an emotional support dog - including accompanying client to veterinarian appointments
- Periodically check-in with client about all upcoming appointments and ensure they are on clients schedule
- Update documentation and file all client-related documents timely and efficiently
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism in relation to confidential information
Experience & Qualifications
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion
Experience working with the young adult population (preferred)
Experience working with individuals with mental health and medical challenges
Experience in handling confidential information (abiding by HIPAA regulations)
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in written form
Ability to collect accurate information and provide documentation
Observe ethical practices regarding client care and confidentiality
Display adaptability, a willingness to learn, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
Ability to get to Kenmore, WA
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in health or social sciences (or equivalent education and experience)
Preferred Education & Experience:
1-year experience (preferred)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk for upwards of an hour.
