Surface Operator

Job Description
Operate and maintain surface mining equipment, ensuring efficient material handling and stockpiling. Monitor equipment performance, follow safety protocols, coordinate with other personnel, and report on equipment performance and safety incidents.

Responsibilities

• Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Operate and maintain surface mining equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and trucks.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Ensure efficient material handling and stockpiling according to production requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and address any issues to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Coordinate with other surface personnel to optimize production schedules.
• Report on equipment performance, production metrics, and safety incidents.
• Assist with loading and unloading of materials as needed.
• Participate in training sessions and safety meetings.
• Adhere to company policies and regulations regarding surface mining operations.
• If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
• Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
• Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
• Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Education
QUALIFICATIONS

• None

Work Experience

• 2-5 years' experience in a similar role.

Knowledge Required

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively.
• Ability to safely use and handle a variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
• Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
• Ability to work as part of a project planning team.
• Previous quality experience is required.
• MSHA Underground miner training would be considered an asset.
• Underground Mining experience would be an asset as would knowledge of applicable mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.

• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
