The Sr. Electrical Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines in order to provide crucial electrical decisions and technical strategic data to support Redpath’s projects. This is to enable the implementation of project work in accordance with safety, codes and standards, schedule, quality and cost control. The role bridges engineering and field execution, delivering safe, practical, and constructible electrical, controls, and communications solutions for low- and medium-voltage mining systems under tight schedules and challenging site conditions.

Required: 10 years’ post graduate work in an industrial environment, mining preferable
Preferred: 15 years’ experience in an engineering environment

Responsibilities
Health and Safety:
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Following Redpath Canada Limited’s health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
- Responsible for checking and approval of drawings done by other Engineers, Designers or Engineers-in- Training. including single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding, and cable schedules.
- Specify, integrate, and commission switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, motors, and protection systems.
- Perform and review power system studies using ETAP (load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash) as required for construction and commissioning.
- Participates in estimating, planning, coordination, procurement, and management of the overall design and engineering process of various projects
- Accountable for Redpath’s global compliance with electrical standards, policies and procedures
- Approval of all electrical equipment selection
- Audits electrical installations, procedures and compliance with legislation
- Develop guidelines for electrical installations with respect to best practices and QA/QC requirements
- Sign off as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) on electrical, networks, communications and drawings
- Accountable for final electrical certification of electrical installations and hoists
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures as related to electrical installations including various international projects.
- Navigating and complying with diverse client electrical standards
- Responsible for detailed engineering design of electrical installations, including health and safety of design, risk analysis
- Acts as liaison between clients and subcontractors regarding electrical installations as required
- Participate in discussions regarding design and risk management of designs
- Travel to sites to inspect, take measurements and/or attend technical discussions as needed
- Mentor Engineer-in-Training, Electrical, less experienced Engineers and Designers
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

- Exposure to electrical aspects of shaft sinking operations
- Experience supporting electrical verification of hoisting plant systems.
- Support PLC-based control systems using Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), including interlocks, and safety logic.
- Performs and/or provides support for commissioning of new/existing operations
- Design, install, and support industrial networking and communications systems, including:
- Cisco industrial Ethernet switches and infrastructure, Layer 2 & 3 networks.
- EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP networks.
- Rajant Wireless Mesh
- Windows Server environment systems.
- Develop, propose and implement as appropriate new technologies in shaft and development electrical design
