The Manager, Project Controls is accountable to the Area Manager for the planning and performance monitoring project performance and to optimize the efficient and profitable implementation of assigned projects. The incumbent must be able to compile contracts, subcontracts, track performance daily, weekly, and monthly, incorporate quantitative and qualitative analysis, and to define both the physical and the economic performance of the projects and recommend action to be taken should deviations from the optimal performance be highlighted.
The incumbent will provide leadership, development, and direction to subordinate staff members to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved. The Manager, Project Controls must be conversant in the discipline of project management, oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of project baselines, project execution plans, execution of contracts, inclusive of overseeing the setup of project administrative aspects.

Responsibilities
- Exhibit sound leadership practices, solid guidance and to provide direction and support to Direct Reports
- Ensures strict adherence to the Redpath’s Philosophy, Guidelines for Success, Code of Conduct and
- Establishes full compliance with the Redpath 17 element safety program and monthly SAP (Safety
- Select, train, and develop suitable candidates within the project controls discipline.
- Manage, lead and mentor departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables
- Oversee the compilation of tender documents for mining construction projects, including bills of
- Oversee the definition of controls baselines for projects, including the development of project execution
- Define and coordinate with key site personnel training programs prior to the initiation of every contract
and key performance deliverables.
- Oversee the administrative set up new projects, including time keeping, contract implementation,
- Ensure that the Management of Change process is being maintained and integrated with Redpath’s
- Oversee the updating and tracking of project costs and schedules (Hard Dollar, Primavera and/or MS
- Implement proper controls to monitor project budget performance, re-allocation of costs and to ensure
- Implement and maintain earned value management systems.
- Oversee the preparation of management information reports for site and office personnel incorporating
- Monitor and support the proper use and implementation of the code of accounts on projects.
- Coordinate departmental and/or project meetings as required.
- Monitor trends obtained from site statistics and advise management of issues potentially impacting on
- Participate in analyzing construction change orders and/or claims.
- Review and finalize close-out reports, including maintaining historical costs and production information
- Develop operating and capital budget plans consistent with the goals of the business and the direction of
- Provide project controls assistance to other subsidiary companies and/or projects as required.
- Maintain professional working relationships with management and client representatives.
- Must demonstrate good conceptual skills in understanding relationships between projects, the overall
- Ability to work independently on complex tasks and non-routine matters.
- Responsible for ensuring and keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in an
- Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
- Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the
- Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related scientific fields.
- Post graduate degree in Project Management or Business Administration (desired).
- The incumbent will have a minimum 10 years of project management controls, project accounting, estimating or controls experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining
- Preferred: 15 Years project controls experience in mining shaft sinking, lateral development, raiseboring, mechanized raise climbing or similar underground construction projects with a sound knowledge of contract principles and data manipulation into management information
