The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for all mine maintenance operations and shall safely plan, organize, manage, execute, and evaluate maintenance operations while providing exceptional leadership and direction through coaching, mentorship and development with a focus on a safe and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Directs and coordinates all surface and underground maintenance activities.
- Insures that the company’s goals, objectives, and priorities are delivered and are in accordance with approved polices and procedures.
- Responsible to ensure all required maintenance activities are planned and scheduled in a manner that
- Ensure alignment of maintenance objectives with production objectives.
- Ensure adequate resources are in place to execute work.
- Accountable for ensuring that all equipment performance targets and work management KPIs are achieved within the constraints of the maintenance budget, including quality control, safety, and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors, and trades people .
- Works with Senior Managers, other Superintendents, and their Maintenance Supervisors to ensure safe
- Responsible for all the personnel (including contractors), equipment, tools, spare parts, and materials in
- Prepares and approves preventative maintenance and other plans, allocates work to their teams, oversee
- Assist in the preparation and negotiation of budgets and controls spending.
- Prepares reports and briefs on equipment, safety, progress on projects and other matters.
- Lead and participate in meetings and briefings, both formal and informal.
- Provides clarity and direction that supports the effective performance of several integrated operations or
- Manage a diverse group of trades including mechanical, electrical, and fixed plant.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, direct and follow-ups on any
- Relay departmental needs and performances to senior company and client management.
- Coordinate resources with other departments to meet mutual goals.
- Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program.
- Plans and schedules work for the department ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate
- Manages employee performance and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure that training is provided to meet with the current and future needs of the mine.
- Participate in strategic planning meetings.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, hazard identification and similar events to determine causes and
- Ensures compliance with all Redpath USA Corporation and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
- Accountable and responsible to ensure maintenance operations comply with applicable government
- If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements
- Responsible for ensuring and keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk
- Ensure that workers are qualified and capable of safely performing assigned work.
- Responsible for the hiring, evaluation, commendation, training, disciplinary action, and dismissals
- Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
- Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the
- Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in mining/mechanical/ electrical engineering or related field is preferred.
- Twelve (12) years of progressive maintenance experience in mine operations and/or engineering.
- Ten (10) years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
- Preferred experience working with mining underground/heavy duty equipment and electrical operations
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment
- Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
- Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
- Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
- Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work in multi-functional and multi-disciplinary teams and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
