What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optician position at Redlands Optometry Group?
Redlands Optometry Group is looking for a skilled optician to join our busy family practice. We are searching for a loyal employee with excellent customer service skills.
Job responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with frame selection, lens options and measurements that meet the patient’s vision and lifestyle needs.
- Knowledge of lens designs, and enhancements to help educate patients, while accurately learning to describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames recommended for their needs.
- Adjustments and repairs of optical frames.
- Keeping the optical area, frames and frame displays clean/dusted/organized.
- Managing the frame boards (meeting with frame and lab reps, having an awareness of latest styles, knowledge of demographics, pricing frames, monthly inventory reports).
- Knowledge and experience in collecting and billing for vision insurance plans (VSP, Spectera, Risk, Etc.).
- Assisting front desk, when needed, answering phones, greeting patients, gathering patient information, making appointments, taking payments, and checking insurance eligibility.
- Proficiency in fitting/dispensing glasses and in measuring and adjusting eyewear.
Qualities we desire:
- Prefer 3-5 years of experience as an optician.
- Compassion and patience.
- An understanding of inventory, product lines and optical sales.
- Highly motivated in providing an exceptional customer service.
