Job Description

Redlands Community College is seeking qualified candidates to apply for adjunct teaching positions in Physical Science for in-person (Chemistry) or online courses (Physical Science and/or Astronomy). These are part-time, temporary adjunct faculty roles reporting to the Department Head.

This is a continuous vacancy announcement, filled on a “need only” basis. All applications are kept on file, and applicants will be notified when courses become available. Work may be performed online or in an office/classroom environment, involving significant public interaction, whether in person, by telephone, via email, or through various communication platforms.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Teach assigned classes
• Support the integrity of the curricula with the Department Head
• Follow the official Redlands Community College course calendar, including holiday breaks and designated start/end times
• Assess and encourage student achievement per student learning objectives
• Interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students, both individually and in groups
• Promote the mission of the Department, as well as the College as a whole

Qualifications include:

• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline is required
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), email, and internet use

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior teaching experience
• Experience in various teaching delivery formats

Clery Statement

Redlands Community College is committed to providing a safe place to live, work, study and visit. Part of this effort includes sharing information regarding the safety and security of our campuses.

Redlands provides email notifications to all students, faculty and staff when a Clery Crime occurs in or near Redlands Community College campus or any of its sites. These notifications are primarily sent if the incident poses an ongoing safety threat as determined by the President of the College or his designee. The act requires colleges and universities to make “timely warnings,” known as “Safety Alerts” at Redlands, to campus community members about specific types of crime if an ongoing threat is believed to exist.
