Key Responsibilities
- Estimate Costs: Calculate the total quantities and costs of projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Estimate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals, ensuring all bids are accurate, complete, and submitted on time and most importantly are priced for profitability.
- Project Analysis: Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Market Analysis: Keep up-to-date with market trends that can affect costs, such as changes in the price of materials and labor rates.
- Client Consultation: Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to provide cost information and cost strategies for project feasibility and budgeting.
- Report Generation: Prepare detailed reports, highlighting the cost breakdown and final estimated project costs.
- Create a takeoff summary indicating specific quantities, timing, costs, etc. included in all estimates.
- Create a detailed schedule of values indicating when costs are going to be spent, when milestones will be achieved and when payments will be received based on the project information.
- Risk Analysis: Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure the project budget is accurate and robust.
- Present the estimate to management for approval prior to submission to the customer to meet the deadline required.
- Ensure that prior to the start-date of the project the critical documentation is provided to the site team which includes at a minimum the overall schedule, overall drawings, labor budget and site work submittals.
- Responsible for handing off a completed estimate including the schedule of values, takeoffs,
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is desired.
- Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, heavy equipment and market trends.
- ****Proficiency in project software (e.g., HSCC -Heavy Bid, AGtek, MS Office).****
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- This position is primarily office-based but may require visits to construction sites to gather information or meet with clients and project stakeholders.
- Standard work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the need for flexibility to meet project deadlines.
