Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Medical Officer / Medical Director to provide clinical leadership, oversee medical operations, and drive quality improvement initiatives. As our Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director, you will be both a hands-on clinician and a strategic leader. Half of your time will be spent providing direct patient care, ensuring our clinical standards remain exceptional. The other half will be dedicated to guiding our medical teams, shaping policies, and driving initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction. You will be the bridge between frontline care and organizational strategy—helping us deliver not just treatment, but trust.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall clinical leadership and direction across the organization
Develop and implement medical policies, protocols, and quality standards
Oversee provider performance, credentialing, and peer review processes
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements (CMS)
Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management initiatives
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and growth
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical staff
Represent the organization in clinical partnerships and community outreach
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board certification in relevant specialty
Active, unrestricted medical license in Maine
Prior leadership experience
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
