About the Role Redhorse Corporation is seeking a highly skilledDatabase Administrator to support mission-critical systems for a federal customer. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain large-scale SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments that ensure reliability, performance, and security. This role plays a key part in sustaining the customer's data operations, improving database performance, and supporting operational readiness across enterprise systems. Primary Responsibilities * Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain large-scale Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases in operational environments.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain stored procedures, database models, and data structures to support application and analytics needs.
- Leverage third-party database tools (e.g., Red Gate) to enhance administration, versioning, and performance workflows.
- Implement and maintain high-availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery architectures to support mission-critical operations.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues within production Windows desktop application environments and supporting database services.
- Conduct query performance tuning, execute bulk data loading, and streamline data processing operations.
- Monitor database health, capacity, and performance to sustain 24/7 availability and ensure compliance with security and mission requirements. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Query debugging and issue resolution
- Stored procedures, indexing strategies, and data modeling
- Bulk-loading techniques and data movement
- Familiarity with Red Gate or similar database administration tools.
- Experience implementing disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutions.
- Active Top Secret clearance required.
- Ability to provide on-call support for mission-critical database systems. Preferred Qualifications * Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or PostgreSQL Professional Certification.
- Experience managing cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Familiarity with federal security standards, including FISMA and NIST frameworks.
