The Head Teacher supports the Director by helping to create a warm, nurturing and safe environment for the children. Assist in the development and coordination of activities to improve the overall care and quality of education for the children. The Head Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Head Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education OR
• A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with 12-18 ECE credits.
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relating field such as Child Development and Special Education, including 12-18 credit hours in early childhood education such as early childhood development, early literacy and assessment for young children and one year’s experience working with children OR
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education and 2 years experience
• AA/BA/BS in an unrelated field with 30 ECE credits
• Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance, National Registry of Sex Offenders Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting
