Ice Production & Refrigeration Field Technician -- Retail Systems

You start your morning by checking your fully outfitted service vehicle and heading to a nearby retail store. A store manager reports that the in‑store ice‑making and bagging machine is tripping a low‑voltage control. You pop the panel, trace the fault through the wiring, verify the PLC logic, swap a component, tighten a plumbing connection, and bring the system back online. Before you leave, you log work details on your handheld, confirm the bagger cycles correctly, and plan your next stop. That mix of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC/R work? That’s your groove.

As an In‑Store Bagger (ISB) Technician with Reddy Ice, you keep our clients’ ice production equipment running smoothly. You’ll receive extensive, hands‑on training and operate an assigned, fully equipped vehicle. • Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of in‑store ice‑making and bagging machines
• Electrical and low‑voltage controls work, including PLC interactions
• Mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC/R tasks to ensure reliable operation
• Accurate service documentation via handheld in accordance with SOPs

• 2 years of repair/service experience in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, or plumbing
• Working knowledge of low‑voltage controls and/or programmable logic controllers
• Valid operator’s/Class C driver’s license with an acceptable MVR
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with handheld devices for reporting

• Journeyman certification/license in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical disciplines, or equivalent experience

• Team‑oriented technicians who communicate clearly and professionally

Work primarily occurs in retail stores, with frequent driving between store locations and the plant. Expect minimal travel with potential overnight stays. Weekend, night, and holiday shifts are part of the role, and overtime may be required. You must be able to lift 60 lbs, use installation lift equipment, climb ladders, and work with power tools. The pace is fast and dynamic—success depends on managing stress, collaborating effectively, and solving complex issues confidently.
