Commercial Ice Systems Field Technician

EPA certification required. Step into a day where your craftsmanship keeps stores stocked with safe, bagged ice and customers happy. You’ll roll out in a well-maintained service vehicle, arrive in uniform at a retail location, assess an In-Store Bagger (ISB) and its ice maker, and get right to work—troubleshooting, repairing, de-scaling, sanitizing, and optimizing output to match demand. By afternoon, you’re collaborating via video with peers on a value stream map and sharing ideas to sharpen our SOPs. Every shift, you practice lean thinking and our True North values: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no-nonsense communication grounded in facts, servant leadership, and continuous improvement.

• Keeping ISB machines running at capacity to meet customer demand.
• Answering service calls to diagnose and repair ISBs, ice makers, and baggers.
• Installing, replacing, and removing ISB units at customer sites.
• Executing preventive maintenance per SOPs: de-scaling and sanitizing ice makers; inspecting and replacing worn bagger parts; upholding strict cleanliness standards.
• Reading and applying blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Working across environments: customer locations, Reddy Ice plants and DCs, and refurbishment centers.
• Using lean methodologies (VSM, Kaizen, A3) to identify and drive improvements; leading and participating in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.
• Attending company-sponsored technician training and continuously building new trade skills.
• Maintaining your vehicle, tools, and on-vehicle parts inventory; communicating restock needs promptly.
• Partnering with store personnel to plan for peak periods and maximize production while delivering respectful, consistent, customer-centric communication.
• Sharing SOP improvement opportunities with the Field Equipment Service Manager and contributing ideas with peers via video conferences, calls, and collaboration tools.
• Exercising professionalism at all times: safe vehicle operation, punctuality, uniform compliance, immediate reporting of incidents, and adherence to safety protocols in the Policies, Programs & Procedures Manual.
• Supporting teammates and leaders with additional duties as needed.

• 2 years of repair/service experience in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, or plumbing (required).
• Working knowledge of low-voltage controls and/or programmable logic controllers.
• EPA certification (required).
• Valid operator/Class C driver’s license and acceptable MVR; able to use a company vehicle.
• Maintain 80% on all company Tech 1 level training assessments.
• High school diploma and/or Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical disciplines, or equivalent experience (required).
• Basic computer and handheld proficiency; follow reporting SOPs via handheld.

• Minimal travel with potential overnights; frequent driving between retail stores and plant locations.
• Weekend, night, and holiday work required; overtime may be needed.
• Retail store environments with ladder work and power tools.
• Lift up to 60 lbs and use installation lift equipment.
• Fast-paced, rapidly changing setting requiring stress management, collaborative relationships, and sound judgment in complex situations.
