Position Overview
Our medical device client is seeking an experienced Buyer III to support procurement, materials management, and supply chain optimization initiatives. This role will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, coordinating material availability, supporting supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement across procurement processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement within a manufacturing or regulated environment, strong organizational skills, familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems, and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement through automation, Lean principles, and emerging technologies.
This position will partner closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure materials are available, purchasing activities are executed effectively, and operational goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for materials, components, supplies, and services to support business requirements.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor materials throughout the production lifecycle to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers to support on-time delivery, resolve supply issues, and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Create and manage purchase orders for indirect materials, MRO items, and non-product goods and services.
- Support inventory management activities, including material tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing needs and ensure timely procurement execution.
- Partner with Quality teams to ensure purchased materials meet applicable quality requirements and standards.
- Support Finance and Accounting activities related to cost tracking and inventory processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes through automation, data analysis, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to optimize procurement workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Maintain compliance with company quality systems, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 6–9 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 4–7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, materials management, or supply chain operations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently manage priorities and work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience using ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
- Strong communication and supplier management skills.
- Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting procurement process improvement initiatives.
- Lean Six Sigma experience or continuous improvement background.
- Experience identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, or procurement-specific AI platforms.
- Experience supporting supply chain digital transformation initiatives.
Salary : $40 - $45
