What are the responsibilities and job description for the Linux System Engineer position at RedBeard Solutions?
Job Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions to support evolving customer and operational requirements.
• Monitor, communicate, and help resolve operational issues while proactively identifying root causes and coordinating feedback with development teams for long-term improvements.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for system health monitoring, user metrics analysis, performance evaluations, and operational availability initiatives.
• Support deployments as a product SME and assist with troubleshooting efforts, automation scripts, and playbook-driven operational processes when needed.
• Provide Linux systems administration and engineering support across multiple environments while coordinating with Enterprise Services teams to ensure compliance with security requirements and enterprise applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with 4–6 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a comparable technical role.
• Strong communication skills with a proactive, self-driven approach and willingness to work collaboratively across teams.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with AWS services such as EC2, S3 Buckets, Reserved Instances, and related cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with system engineering documentation including network diagrams, architecture documentation, and data flow mapping.
• Experience using Agile collaboration and project management tools including Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket.
• Strong background supporting Linux environments and infrastructure management best practices.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance at the required level.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with Oracle commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products including Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Unified Directory.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes environments and container orchestration technologies.
• Experience with Elastic Stack technologies including Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash.
• Exposure to AWS and additional cloud platforms and services.
• Understanding of AWS performance optimization and cloud cost management practices.
• Experience supporting cloud-native or cloud-based architectures.
• Familiarity with cross-domain architecture concepts across multiple security environments.
• Experience with automated testing, monitoring, and operational support tools.
• Understanding of Engineering Review Board processes and Change Management procedures.
Salary : $145,000 - $160,000
