The Vice President of Advancement is the President's senior leader of all fundraising activities and staff at New College of Florida. This leader articulates the College's case for philanthropic support, builds relationships, leverages networks, cultivates opportunities, obtains significant gifts, and stewards the financial resources required to fulfill the institution's mission.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
The Vice President of Advancement serves as the Executive Director of the New College Foundation, Inc., which provides financial support for New College of Florida, the Honors College of the State of Florida. New College is on the leading edge of higher education reform, where students are taught how to think, not what to think. New College students receive a rigorous liberal arts education in an environment emphasizing free speech and respectful civil discourse.
The Vice President is the leader of an advancement program that includes development of donors aligned with New College's mission, cultivation of major and planned gifts, appeals to corporate and foundation philanthropy, and fundraising efforts directed at alumni, friends, parents, and the local community. The Foundation provides student scholarships and grants, support for the College's athletics program, and other institutional support for New College.
The Vice President reports to the President of New College and serves as a member of the President's cabinet, made up of the senior administrative leaders of the College. The Vice President provides support for the Chair of the Board and the Board of Directors of the Foundation. The Vice President is also responsible for leading the Foundation's staff of development professionals. The Vice President, along with Foundation Board's Investment Committee, oversees the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) that manages the College's endowment.

Responsibilities
- Developing relationships with and securing substantial gifts from high net worth individuals and philanthropic foundations
- Participating in local civic and non-profit organizations' activities to build greater visibility and support for the College in the community
- Providing administrative support to the Foundation Board of Directors and its committees
- Assisting the Board Chair with Board development
- Managing the Foundation's major fundraising events
- Formulating and adhering to an annual budget for the Foundation
- Hiring and supervising the Foundation's professional and administrative staff
- Overseeing the relationship between New College and its alumni
- Working with College administration, faculty and staff on initiatives designed to raise the profile of New College in the donor community
