Immigration Attorney Responsibilities & Duties
- Advising clients on immigration laws and procedures, including family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, naturalization, and removal proceedings
- Representing clients in immigration court and before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
- Preparing and filing immigration applications, including petitions for visas, permanent residency, and citizenship
- Conducting legal research and drafting complex legal briefs
- Communicating regularly with clients and updating them on their case status
- Staying up to date with the latest changes in immigration laws and regulations
Immigration Attorney Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in immigration law practice.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience representing clients in immigration court.
- Proficiency in legal research and writing.
- Ability to handle a high caseload efficiently.
- Membership in relevant legal associations.
- Demonstrated commitment to public service or pro bono work.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to a state bar and eligibility to practice law
- Minimum of 1 years of experience practicing immigration law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
