What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Accessibility Web Developer position at Red Sun Technology?
We are looking for a Digital Accessibility Web Developer to support the client’s digital government modernization efforts by remediating accessibility issues across websites, applications, forms, and other digital platforms. This role is heavily focused on hands-on front-end remediation work in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA, helping the client meet WCAG 2.1 AA compliance standards. The ideal candidate will be strong in CMS-based accessibility remediation, able to partner with testers and analysts, and comfortable correcting markup, structure, navigation, and component-level issues across enterprise environments.
Strict requirement: US Citizen or Greencard holder requirement per the client and W2 only. Must be able to relocate to client Hartford, CT. Candidates in the area will be given priority.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 4 years of experience remediating digital accessibility issues across websites, applications, portals, and digital platforms
- Strong hands-on coding experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA markup
- Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and assistive technology behavior
- Experience fixing accessibility issues involving keyboard navigation, focus management, semantic structure, responsive layouts, forms, labels, and ARIA roles
- Experience working within CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Salesforce, WordPress, or similar enterprise content systems
- Ability to interpret automated and manual accessibility testing results from tools such as Axe, ANDI, NVDA, and JAWS and apply code-level fixes
- Experience remediating templates, themes, components, content types, and presentation layers in CMS environments
- Familiarity with enterprise environments including back-end platforms, APIs, AWS services, or similar infrastructure
- Experience using Jira or similar defect tracking tools to manage remediation tickets and progress
- Ability to work in agile sprint environments and collaborate with testers, QA, content teams, developers, and project managers
- Strong communication and documentation skills for explaining remediation work and sharing repeatable accessibility patterns
- Preferred experience with Sitecore MVC or SXA customization
- Preferred certifications such as IAAP WAS, IAAP CPACC, DHS Trusted Tester, Deque University Developer Track, or similar accessibility credentials
- Nice to have experience supporting remediation of PDFs, Word documents, or PowerPoint files
- Nice to have familiarity with accessibility checks in CI/CD pipelines and design review tools such as Figma or Adobe XD
