Building Services Worker (Janitor)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Building Services Worker, commonly known as a Janitor, to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facilities. This role is vital in creating a welcoming and hygienic environment for staff, visitors, and clients. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality custodial services. You will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks that ensure our premises are well-kept, safe, and inviting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all areas of the facility.
• Conduct detailed floor care procedures such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain pristine surfaces
• Handle commercial cleaning tasks in office area, break rooms, kitchens, bathrooms/locker rooms, hallways, and common areas with efficiency and attention to detail
• Maintain cleanliness of industrial spaces through specialized cleaning techniques suited for heavy-duty environments
• Stocks washrooms, wash areas and lunchrooms daily with soap and paper towels
• Maintain tools and equipment and keeps the janitor closet clean and organized
• Clean all windows, doors, walls, and floors of the facility as necessary including scheduled floor scrubber activities
• Complete records of sanitization, cleaning and repairs.
• Maintain inventory of materials and supplies. Monitors usage, counts inventory and completes the appropriate records
• Assist with custodial responsibilities related to residential painting touch-ups or minor repairs as needed
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers safely and effectively
• Support facilities maintenance by reporting repair needs and assisting with light upkeep tasks to ensure operational excellence
• Follow health and safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for everyone

Experience

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings is highly preferred
• Proven skills in cleaning techniques including floor care, buffing, and industrial cleaning processes
• Experience with residential painting or minor maintenance tasks is a plus but not required
• Familiarity with facilities maintenance procedures and safety standards
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments
• Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment operation, and proper safety practices related to custodial work
