What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Red Star?
SUMMARY: The Quality Technician is responsible for performing the required inspection operations based on the job traveler and quality criteria throughout the manufacturing process, including receiving, in-process, final, and product release. In addition, the Quality Technician will provide support under the direction of the Quality Engineer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes the following but other duties may be assigned)
- Perform and document all inspections, based on the Quality Inspection plans
- Inspect to the AQL / C=0 sampling plan provided
- Perform 1st article layouts, when required
- Assist in calibration, when needed
- Perform gage R&R tasks, capability studies, Minitab analysis when required
- Assist in problem solving - root cause analysis
- Assist in creating/updating all documents required for a DMR - Control Plans, PFMEAs, Inspection Criteria, Work Instructions, Process Specifications, Custom Gaging, Capability Studies, GR&R studies, Contact Material lists for specific products, or any other items as directed by the Quality Engineer
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with validation activities, under the direction of the Quality Engineer, as needed
- Assist with additional tasks that may be required from other departments as time allows
- Assist with Trending of Metrics as directed by Quality Management
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from the Quality Engineer
- Data analysis and document preparation under the direction of a Quality Engineer, as needed
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required
- Basic computer skills
- Good organization skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using gauging, such as mics, calipers, comparators, height and thread gauges, vision systems
- 1-2 years' inspection experience, preferred
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Experience with inspection of medical devices, preferred
- Certified Quality Inspector (CQT-ASQ), preferred
- Proficient with GD&T and blueprint reading, preferred
