Dispatcher

The Dispatcher will coordinate and schedule drivers for pick-up and delivery in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Schedules drivers for pick-up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driver.
• Oversees equipment availability; assigns drivers, trucks, and extra drivers when needed.
• Consolidates orders into truckloads for specific destinations.
• Anticipates weather complications along routes and at the drivers' destinations; communicates delays and route changes as necessary.
• Maintains radio and/or phone contact with drivers; receives and dispatches response and emergency aid when needed.
• Maintains and reviews billing and operation records; monitors daily logs for errors and/or compliance violations.
• Monitors drivers' working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
• Oversees maintenance and repair schedules for vehicles.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Understanding of geographical area and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.
• Occasional ability to become immersed in the data, analytics, and the information necessary to achieve our business goals and customer satisfaction.
• Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and recordkeeping systems.
• We will perform a behavioral and cognitive assessment on all candidates prior to consideration for this position.
• Ability to operate with structure, but not to be bound or inhibited by them.
• Ability work at a fast pace while under pressure with changing priorities while maintaining flexibility.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and APS systems.
• Multiple aptitude and skills tests required, including Excel for simple formulas/pivot table assessment and typing at least 40 WPM.
• Thorough understanding of shipping industry.
• You must be able to take calls on night and weekends as you will have to dispatch when needed.
• Strong leadership skills to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and assignments.
• Be a self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
• Must be customer/supplier focused with a passion for taking care of their needs.
• Be available for emergency calls 24/7.
• Must be able to work at a fast pace while managing and adapting to multiple priorities.
• Must be able to direct, guide, and coach employee efforts in a manner that does no discourage them.

Education requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred.
• At least three years of related experience and execution of similar duties in warehouse/freight operations required.

Physical requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to work in a dusty environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Annual Salary: $65,000, however pay will be determined by the candidate's related work experience.
