Job Overview

We are seeking a Residential Monitor to provide supervision, guidance, and support to Job Corps students living in the residential dormitories. The Residential Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, structured, and supportive living environment while helping students develop appropriate behavior, personal responsibility, and independent living skills.

The Residential Monitor serves as a positive role model and works closely with students and center staff to promote student success. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor students in assigned residential areas to ensure their safety, security, and well-being.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive residential environment consistent with Job Corps policies and center procedures.
  • Conduct scheduled dormitory rounds, room checks, and safety inspections.
  • Monitor student activities and interactions and address behavioral concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Enforce center rules, student conduct requirements, and residential policies consistently and fairly.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, mentoring, and positive reinforcement to students.
  • Assist students in developing personal responsibility, communication skills, conflict-resolution skills, and independent living skills.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, conflicts, disturbances, and other safety or security situations.
  • Follow established emergency procedures and immediately notify appropriate center personnel when an emergency occurs.
  • Assist with first aid and CPR procedures when trained and authorized.
  • Utilize radios, telephones, and other communication equipment as required to maintain effective communication with center staff.
  • Use appropriate communication and de-escalation techniques when addressing student conflicts or behavioral concerns.
  • Document incidents, student concerns, activities, safety issues, and other significant events accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete required residential logs, reports, inspections, and other documentation.
  • Identify and report safety, security, health, behavioral, or student welfare concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Support student participation in education, career technical training, counseling, recreation, social development, and other center activities.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and serve as a positive role model.
  • Work collaboratively with Counseling, Wellness, Safety/Security, Education, Career Technical Training, and other departments to support student development and retention.
  • Participate in residential meetings, student activities, assemblies, and center events as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and follow all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required Job Corps, center-specific, safety, and professional development training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Pay: $19.93 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
