Position Summary
The Seasonal Facilities Worker supports the daily upkeep and appearance of the Red River Zoo’s grounds, buildings, and public spaces. This position focuses on routine outdoor maintenance, cleaning, and general labor tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests, staff, and animals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform routine groundskeeping duties including weed eating, mowing, and general lawn care
- Assist with debris removal and general site cleanup
- Monitor and empty garbage and recycling bins throughout zoo grounds
- Assist with snow removal and ice management during winter months
- Transport fuel and supplies as needed for operations
- Pump water and assist with basic exhibit and facility upkeep
- Clean restrooms, buildings, and public areas when needed
- Support minor maintenance tasks and general labor as assigned
- Assist Facilities team with daily work orders and seasonal projects
- Help with event setup and teardown when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety protocols and Zoo policies
- Other duties as assigned
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Seasonal position working 32–40 hours per week
- Schedule may include weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Work is primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Position requires physical labor including lifting, walking, bending, and operating equipment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks efficiently
- Comfortable performing physical labor and working outdoors
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Valid driver’s license required
- Experience with lawn care equipment, basic tools, or maintenance tasks preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and follow Zoo safety procedures and standards
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with groundskeeping or landscaping
- Familiarity with basic maintenance tasks (minor repairs, tools, equipment)
- Experience operating equipment such as mowers or skid steers
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
