What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmworkers & Laborers, Crop, Nursery, Greenhouse position at Red River Valley Fair Association?
Assist with producing crops such as sunflowers, corn, soybeans, pumpkins; Repair and maintain grounds vehicles and equipment; Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping including mowing, weed eating, and spraying for weed control; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Maintain inventory and obtain supplies; Maintaining roads and moving snow; Set up livestock areas including setting up and teardown of stalls, setting up and maintaining arenas, caring for livestock, including feeding, cleaning stalls; set up and dismantle agricultural exhibits and booths; prepare work areas for farm exhibitions and cleanup including setting up and taking down hay bales and various other agricultural tasks; Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs; will be operating farm equipment such as tractors, mowers, forklifts, etc.; work will primarily be outdoors in various weather conditions; Must be able to speak English. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: be able to handle working in high humidity, clean work areas, feel plants/crops leaves and note coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease, maintain grounds and landscaping, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, set up repair, maintain, and operate specialized equipment, tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating, tilling soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning crops, use hand tools such as such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives, use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools, work in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: bailers and other hay equipment, dirt moving equipment, forklift, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, sprayers, tractors. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, corn, flowers, hay, sheep, soybeans, sunflowers. Must speak and understand English.
