Position Summary
The Janitor/Laborer, Grounds Maintenance will be responsible for keeping assigned areas, such as offices, commercial spaces, industrial spaces, institutional buildings, or other establishments in a clean and orderly condition.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.
- Sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures.
- Polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
- Spreads salt on walkways and other areas, repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
- Maintains grounds of industrial or commercial property, trim hedges and edges using trimmers, clippers, and edging tools, picks up and burns or carts away leaves, paper or other litter;
- Removing snow, sand, brush, or other debris from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using a shovel, blower, or other equipment.
- Assists in special cleaning projects and cleaning emergency spills that are observed or as requested.
- Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and requests repairs when needed.
- Assists in the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and may clean comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
- Use proper personal protective equipment.
- Understand reporting systems and the environment.
- Present a professional appearance and conduct.
- Take direction and respond to supervision.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
- Noise levels can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Must have strong organizational and group presentation skills.
- Well-developed multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Must have computer literacy skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Possess a Valid California driver’ License without special restrictions.
Security Requirements
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must undergo a background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Base access and the Common Access Card (CAC)
