Position Summary
Under direct supervision, the Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing medications to patients and performs routine pharmacy duties. The technician will support sterile compounding operations, maintain pharmacy records, and assist in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and compound IV sterile medications following USP 797 and USP 800 requirements.
- Record and maintain pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs/reports.
- Complete appropriate documentation of IV admixture for sterile compounded products.
- Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations accurately.
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV preparations and sterile medications prepared in a clean room.
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles to ensure safe medication administration.
- Perform inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations and standards of practice.
- Utilize aseptic techniques when compounding sterile preparations.
- Current Arkansas Pharmacy Technician registration preferred.
- Pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Aseptic training preferred but not required.
- Experience with sterile compounding or infusion pharmacy is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Experience with IV infusion processes and critical care environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain safety and efficacy in medication preparation.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
