School food matters not only because it's integral to good health, but because what children eat is an essential part of their cultural identity and sense of self.About the Role The Food Service Worker, In-school is a dynamic role and integral part of a 3-6 person team helping to serve and deliver healthy made-from-scratch meals for hundreds of children in their school every day. The ideal candidate has experience serving children, is reliable, and has a can-do attitude. The critical functions of the position include working in partnership with our schools, handing out meals to students, light food prep and helping to ensure the kitchen is always exceeding DOH standards.Critical FunctionsPortion food according to Red Rabbit's production and NJ guidelines.Showcase and garnish meals in accordance with Red Rabbit culinary standardsPresent and distribute meals with dignity to students according to compliance portions and school timingQuickly and accurately count and track the amount of food distributed ensuring accuracy for compliance and reduce food wasteEnsure the kitchen is exceeding DOH standards at all times by cleaning work stations and cooking equipmentRepresent Red Rabbit's values and culture when interacting with school staff and students by always being professional, helpful, and courteousOther duties as assignedSkills & Requirements1 years professional culinary experience in a fast paced role in the service industry (i.e. restaurants), high volume kitchen production (i.e. commissary kitchen), or in a similar cafeteria role (i.e. schools/hospitals)Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practicesServe Safe certificateFood handlers license or certificate is a plusAble to self motivate and to be organizedCan function well within a team and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environmentHave a great attitude who contributes to a positive working environmentShare our passion for improving nutrition and health in schoolsMust be able to read and write in English.
