Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruction & Curriculum: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in painting, drawing, sculpture, and design, aligned with Iowa Core standards.
- Classroom Management: Establish a safe, organized, and positive studio environment that encourages creativity.
- Assessment: Evaluate student work, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate grading records.
- Art Supplies & Safety: Inventory, order, and maintain art supplies; instruct students on the proper care and safety of tools.
- Showcasing Work: Organize school-wide art displays, exhibitions, and portfolio reviews to showcase student talents.
- Professional Collaboration: Work with staff to promote student progress and participate in staff meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field.
- Certification: Valid Iowa Teacher License (Class B or higher) with appropriate Art endorsements (e.g., K-12 or 5-12 Art).
- Skills: Strong classroom management, communication skills, and passion for creative expression.
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing, walking, and moving throughout the classroom for extended periods.
- Must be able to set up displays and organize art materials.
